Why Your AC Isn't Getting Cold

When someone is exposed to excessively high temperatures for a long time, it can lead to a medical emergency such as heat stroke. Too much heat exposure can also lead to someone becoming dehydrated due to him or her sweating a lot. In order to avoid such problems, it is important to have access to a functional air conditioner that is able to put out a satisfactory amount of cold air. If you have an AC that runs but doesn't get cold enough, get it inspected so it can be repaired as soon as possible, especially if your house is excessively hot inside. A technician can have your AC getting cold again in a short period of time, but it depends on what the overall condition of the system is as to how fast the repair will be.

Refrigerant Leaks Out of the Hose

A refrigerant leak can cause major cooling problems for an air conditioning system, as it is one of the most needed things for cooling to take place. Basically, an AC must have a good level of refrigerant so heat can be properly taken out of the air. Refrigerant removes the heat so the evaporator coil can make the air cold to a satisfactory level. If your system is leaking refrigerant, a technician can find out and repair the hose. He or she will likely have to place more refrigerant in the system as well.

Air Doesn't Blow Out Strongly Enough

Cooling problems can be related to air not blowing through the air conditioning system strongly enough for it to efficiently cool a house down. When such a problem is happening, it is commonly related to the part of the system called the blower fan assembly. If the fan doesn't spin fast enough, only a small amount of air will be produced, which means it might not be able to cool your house down. Sometimes the fan assembly can develop rust that makes it difficult for it to spin at full speed. A technician might have to oil the fan up, make a repair to other parts of the assembly, or completely replace it.

The Thermostat Needs a Repair

Poor cooling from an AC system can be related to the thermostat, as the needle can be damaged. Other parts like buttons and switches can be damaged on the thermostat as well. Another problem that can occur is for the electrical wiring to get damaged. No matter what is wrong with the thermostat, a technician can make a repair or install a new one.
